Joan Jovanovich

Joan (Jovanka) Jovanovich (nee Zuzuly, aka Cuculjevic), age 79, of Elmhurst passed away on Monday, January 28, 2013. She was born in Chicago and resided with her family in Elmhurst since 1964. She was a Serbian Orthodox Christian having belonged to St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church-South Chicago, Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral-Chicago, and St. George Serbian Orthodox Church-Joliet. She was retired from payroll at Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205, a past president of SRO parent support group at York High School, supporting member of Serbian Singing Society Branko Radichevich, former singer of Serbian Singing Society Sloboda and Serbian Singing Society Branko Radichevich, a member of ShrinerA�??s Hillbilly Clan 57 and Order of Eastern Star Chapter 699.

Joan was married to her loving husband, George Jovanovich, Jr. for 57 years; devoted mother to Amy Jovanovich and Holly (Zoran) Goljic; cherished Baba/grandmother to Zora and Zvezdana Goljic; niece to Polly Posig; sister to Doris (Robert) Rouleau; sister-in-law to Richard (the late Julia) Jovanovich and Radovan (Darlene) Jovanovich; aunt to many nieces and nephews, and thankful for dear Kumovi and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter S. and Zora (nee Stovich) Zuzuly (aka Cuculjevic); father-/mother-in-law George Sr. and Mary Jovanovich; brother-/sister-in-law Daniel Sr. and Eva Jovanovich; Alexander Jovanovich, Orville and Danica Belfield; and Julia Jovanovich.

Joan devoted herself to taking care of her ailing husband for 20 years and suffered from multiple health problems of her own for the last handful of years. Despite the difficulties, she enjoyed and loved her favorite thing, her grandchildrenA�?A�watching them growing and playing with them. She also greatly enjoyed attending family events and school programs. She was an extremely social person, always jumped into the deep end of the pool head first, and was eager to help anyone she could. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in JoanA�??s name may be directed to Holly Goljic to be used according to the familyA�??s wishes.

A Celebration of JoanA�??s life will begin on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. with prayers at the funeral home chapel then moving in procession to St. George Serbian Church for a funeral service to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Joliet. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 3, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Pomen service to take place at 7:00 p.m. at TezakA�??s Home to Celebrate Life.
