Eric Philip Krall passed away February 6, 2016 in Knoxville, Tennessee at the age of 32. He was born October 18, 1983 at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL to Philip and Mary (Gimpel) Krall. Eric grew up in Shorewood, IL. He graduated from St. Jude’s Catholic Grade School in 1998, Providence Catholic High School in 2002 and earned a bachelor’s degree in History & Political Science from the University of St. Francis.
Eric was a poster child for Easter Seals at age 3. As a young man, he regularly served as a host for the entertainment portion of the Easter Seals Telethon. He played basketball in grade school and became tech savvy at a very young age. He developed an insatiable interest in history and politics, the Civil War in particular. Teachers found it best to let him have the floor when it came to that period in history. He was a member of the Law Club in high school and the Young Republicans in college. Eric also enjoyed his travels to England, France, Scotland, Germany and Austria.
Eric began working at Best Buy in high school and continued at the Joliet store until his recent promotion and transfer to manage the Pacific Sales division of Best Buy in Knoxville, Tennessee. He is remembered by his team as a positive leader with tremendous knowledge of products and sales expertise.
Eric is survived by his parents, Phil and Mary of Shorewood; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edward Krall and Gloria Krall Llewellyn; maternal grandparents, Robert and Ruth Gimpel; his uncle, Gary Krall; and cousin, Devin Alexander.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be mailed to the Eric Krall Memorial Scholarship, c/o Providence Catholic High School, 1800 W. Lincoln Hwy, New Lenox, IL 60451. The fund will provide assistance to Providence Catholic High School students with special needs.
A memorial visitation will take place Friday, February 19, from 4:00 to 8:00p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home located at 1211 Plainfield Road Joliet, IL. A memorial visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, February 20, at the Church of St. Jude Catholic Church, 2212 McDonough Street, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment of cremated remains will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Joliet, Illinois.
