Gerald L. Mudroch, age 73, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 18, 2017 with his loving family by his side.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joan (nee Salopek) Mudroch; children, Aaron (Jennifer) Mudroch and Audrey (Matt Shipley) Mudroch; four grandchildren, Rachel and Evan Mudroch and Jordan and Jolie Boros; sister, Beverly (the late Robert) Rauman; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann (the late Martin) Mudroch and Margaret (the late John) Mudroch; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Judith (Jerry) Miglorini; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Jane (nee Rodgers) Mudroch; two brothers, Martin and John “Jack” Mudroch; and brother-in-law, Robert Rauman.
Gerald was born in Joliet, graduated from Joliet Central High School and resided in Lockport for 30 years. He was employed by Citgo Refinery and retired at the age 55 after 23 years of service. He was a proud United States Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Gerald was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the American Legion Post #18. At Gerald’s home in Grand Haven, Romeoville, he enjoyed time with his fishing club and was a member of the Property and Grounds Committee. He also enjoyed snowmobile trips to Wisconsin with his son, family and friends. One of Gerald’s greatest joys was spending time at his retirement home on Lake Barkley in Kentucky. At the lake house he loved creating memories with his family and greatly enjoyed his time out on the water fishing with the Fun Timers Fishing Club. While retired and living on Lake Barkley, Gerald was a proud member of the Lyon County Rescue Squad where he volunteered his time as a rescue team member. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gerald’s name to Joliet Area Community Hospice or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation would be appreciated.
A celebration of Gerald’s life will begin on Monday, May 22, 2017 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 7:00 p.m. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation. Interment will be held privately at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
