Maria Cruz Reeves (nee Olvera), age 77, entered eternal life suddenly on Sunday, September 3, 2017.
Maria is survived by her children, Bill Thomas, Richard (Diane) Thomas, Sheryl (Tim) Nichols, Debra (Carlos) Hernandez, Deanna (the late Gary) Frausto, Melissa (Scott) Stancy; step-son, Norman (Barb) Reeves; grandchildren, Zachary Thomas, Tara Loomis, Jenna Thomas, Lauren Nichols, Jeremy Nichols, Lisa Esser, Alicia Lugo, Nicholas Frausto, Jacob Stancy, Payton Stancy; step-grandchildren, Becky Haney and Bill Reeves; great-grandchildren, Isabelle Esser, Kenadee Loomis, Dalton Frausto, Malina Lugo, Charlee Loomis; siblings, Jose III (Louisa) Olvera, Lupe (Janet) Olvera, Maria (Tony) Moreno, Jesse (Loretta) Olvera, Irene Galindo, Rosario "Nina" (Alex) Ortiz and Esperanza Rodriguez; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by her loving husband, William N. Reeves; parents, Jose and Brijida (nee Fernandez) Olvera; son, Thomas Reeves; son-in-law, Gary Frausto; siblings, Adelaide Miranda, Eli Olvera, Dolores Flores, Jose Olvera II and Christina Olvera.
Maria worked for the City of Joliet as a Crossing Guard and greatly enjoyed it. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-gram. Maria was happiest when spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed crocheting and volunteering her time on the 6th floor at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center. Maria was a faithful person who always had a positive outlook and found the good in everyone.
A celebration of Maria’s life will begin on Monday, September 11, 2017 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service to be held in the funeral home chapel at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet. Visitation will be on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
