James T. Seddon

August 14, 1956 ~ January 7, 2014 (age 57)

James T. Seddon "Tom", age 57, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Loyola University Medical Center on Tuesday, January 7, 2014. Tom courageously fought leukemia for 13 years and passed away due to complications from a bone marrow transplant.

Born on August 14, 1956 in Pontiac, IL, Tom retired from ComEd on December 30, 2013 after 35 years of service. Tom was a sports enthusiast. He was an IHSA basketball referee for 20 plus years, a slow-pitch softball umpire for 25 years, and a fast-pitch umpire for 3 years. In 2009, Tom was inducted into the USSSA Hall of Fame as an umpire.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Janet (nee Sandretto) Seddon and a loving and proud father of 2 daughters, Amanda Seddon and Christie Seddon; his brother, Jon (Beth) Seddon of Santa Clarita, California; mother-in-law, Patricia Sandretto; sister-in-law, Carol (Nick) Honiotes; aunt, Patricia Shoemaker; nephews, Christopher (Shiloh) Seddon, Brent

(Kimberly) Seddon, Nicholas (Jessica) Honiotes; nieces, Heather Seddon, Beth Ann Seddon, Kilynn Honiotes; numerous cousins; and his loving pups, Benny and Charley.

Preceded in death by his parents, David Henry and Mary Margaret Seddon (nee Hindman); father-in-law, Richard Sandretto; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Tom loved his friends and all his JCA football tailgating buds. He was loved by all of his friends and made an impression on everyone he met. He will be truly missed by everyone on and off the basketball courts and softball fields. There will be a hole in the hearts of many. A sincere thank you to the entire nursing and medical staff at Loyola University Medical Center.

Donations in Tom's name to the Lukemia Research Foundation, 3520 Lake Avenue, Suite 202, Wilmette, IL 60091 or to Joliet Catholic Academy, 1200 North Larkin Avenue, Joliet, IL 60435 would be greatly appreciated.
