Arthur G. Hoff, age 92, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025. Born on July 3, 1932, to Arthur and Rose Hoff, Art was a proud Korean War veteran who wore his service cap with honor.
He worked for Singer Sewing Machines as a salesman and store manager and later found great fulfillment working at the Museum of Science and Industry. In his 60s, he learned to play the button box accordion and enjoyed polka dancing -where he found new joy and companionship in his later years.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy; later partner Vera; sons, Artie Hoff and Arthur Allen Hoff (Butchie); and brother, Allan Hoff
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Barbara, her children and grandchildren: son Michael Szczech (Susan) and their children Jennifer Erasime (Will) and their children Benjamin and Eleanor, and son Joseph Szczech (Marisol Melendez); daughter, Kathleen Szczech; son, Ronald Szczech; and daughter, Laura Iturralde Szczech (Inigo Iturralde) and their son, Ander Lee Iturralde Szczech.
He is also survived by daughter, Cynthia L. Hoff and her children: Thaddeus Blaszczak; Valerie Dees (Dustin) and their sons, Colton and Ryker; and Steve Blaszczak (Liz) and their daughters, Amelia and Lorelei. He is also survived by son, Brad Hoff and daughter, Yvette McGrath (Brian) and their children, Jenna and Brandon.
Art will be remembered for his warmth, music, and the joy he brought to those around him. His legacy lives on in all who loved him.
A celebration of Arthur’s life will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025 with a memorial visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family invites relatives and friends back to the funeral home on Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. until closing prayers at 10:30 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1711 Burry Circle Drive, Crest Hill, IL 60403 for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery on Monday, July 7, 2025 at 10:00 a.m.
