Arthur A. Vidmar, age 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at Lightways Hospice in Joliet.
Arthur is survived by his siblings, Antoinette “Toni” (the late David) Beck of Joliet, Barbara (the late Marvin) Droege of Bluffton, South Carolina and Gregory (Debbie) Vidmar of Channahon; sister-in-law, Nancy (Jim) Mau; nieces and nephews, Roberta (Len) Veatch, Richard Beck, Stephen (Dorothy) Beck, Eric (Minh) Beck, Christopher (Julie) Vidmar and Jonathon Vidmar; great-nieces and nephews, Sarah Veatch, Dr. Alex Veatch Phd, Jacqueline (Steven) Dolatowski, Kevin Beck, Aaron (Annaleah) Beck, Nathan Beck, Brandon Beck, Cameron Beck, Danielle Beck, Stephanie Beck, Emmalyn Vidmar, Cole Vidmar and Gavin Vidmar; great-great nieces and nephews, Payton and Harper Dolatowski and Cecilia and Ambrose Beck; numerous cousins also survive.
Preceded in death by his wife, Diane (nee Patmore) Vidmar; parents, Anton and Ann (nee Marchek) Vidmar; one brother in infancy, Donald Vidmar; and brother-in-law, David Beck.
Arthur graduated from St. Joseph Grade School and Joliet Catholic High. He worked for many years as a laboratory technician at Silver Cross Hospital and Cook County Hospital, where he was respected for his professionalism and commitment to patient care. Arthur also proudly volunteered with the Will County Emergency Management Agency, beginning in 1992, generously giving his time to assist his community whenever needed. In 2022, Art was recognized with the Governor’s Volunteer Service Award, one of the highest honors a volunteer can receive. A devout Catholic, Arthur was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet. His faith was central to his life and guided him in his relationships, work, and service to others.
In lieu of flowers, donation in his name may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 416 N. Chicago Street, Joliet, IL 60432 or Lightways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431.
Per Arthur’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded. The family invites relatives and friends to join them on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet for a visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Joliet.
