Benjamin Jerome Miller, age 57 of Joliet, IL passed away on September 2, 2026 at Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care in Joliet, IL. Ben was born to his parents Orville “O” Jerome Miller and Natalie Jean Miller (née Holman) in Park Ridge, IL on March 12, 1969.
Ben was raised and educated in the Joliet area. He was a member of the 1987 graduating class from Lockport Township High School and earned his Associate’s Degree from Joliet Junior College in 1989. He was the first ever K-9 Officer for the Crest Hill Police Department where he spent twenty-eight years serving the community. His hobbies included a passion for collecting antique International Harvester Farmall Tractors, and rooting on his beloved Minnesota Vikings from childhood.
Ben was the type of person who seemed to know everyone, and somehow, everyone seemed to also know and love him. He was a loyal family member and friend who truly valued the relationships he shared with people, and he was always ready with a smile, a laugh, or a good story. He had a naturally jovial personality, enjoyed his time spent outdoors, and was especially fond of gathering together with loved ones, new and old, to share in good times either watching football, sharing some laughs, or simply enjoying each other’s company. Above all else, he was a loving and devoted father to his son Spencer. His commitment to being the very best father that he could be was an important part of his identity and will always remain a key aspect of his legacy.
He was preceded in death by his father O. Jerome Miller and his sister Sarah J. Miller.
Ben is survived by his dear mother Natalie J. Miller, his beloved son Spencer B. Miller and his loving brother Christopher (Linda) Miller.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer that any donations offered in Ben’s name be directed to Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care at https://lightways.org/donate/ .
In keeping with Ben’s stated wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and a Celebration of Life Memorial Gathering will be held at a later date.
