Betty K. Bluth (nee’ Kinder)

Age 89 of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Our Lady of Angels Nursing Home in Joliet under the care of Lightways Hospice.

Born August 25, 1932 in Jonesboro, Illinois, Betty Kathryn was a daughter of Robert and Elnora (Modglin) Kinder. She moved to Crest Hill in 1956 and worked for Merichka’s Restaurant as a server for 24 years. It was at Merichka’s that she met the love of her life, Richard Bluth and together they celebrated 64 years of marriage. Betty’s favorite things to do in her free time were sewing, crocheting and baking for her family. Her most cherished times were always when she was surrounded by her family.

Betty is survived by her beloved husband: Richard E. Bluth; her children: Leonard (Margaret) Bluth, Joyce (Luke) Branchaw and Kathy (Bob) Vanderhyden; her grandchildren: Jack (Bridgid) Bluth, Robert Bluth, Nicolette (Jeff) Kassl, Chrissy (Steve) Ellis, Nathan (fiancée: Erin Hupp) Branchaw, Matt (fiancée: Yesenia Chavez) Branchaw and Andrew Branchaw; great-grandchildren: Annaliese Bluth, Kason Bluth and Hayden Kassl; sister: Jane Treece and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Robert and Elnora; great-grandson: Gavin Vanderhyden Kassl and four siblings.

Per Betty’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

She will be laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood at a later date.
