Betty L. Smith
December 13, 1946 — February 21, 2010
Betty L. Smith, age 63, was called home on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at her late residence after a courageous battle with cancer.
Survived by her loving husband, David A. Smith; her daughter, Michelle (Jeffrey) Law; grandchildren Jeffrey,Jr. and Holley Law; brother John Stein; sister Diane (Joseph) Povidinski, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by a daughter, Christine, in infancy; her parents Alvina and John Stein; and her brother Robert (Patricia) Stein.
Betty operated a cake business from her home, and was known for her cakes and baked goods. She loved her dogs, gardening, carpentry, sewing, and her neighbors. Betty was a dedicated Christian and served until the final day.
A Celebration of Betty"s Life will begin at the funeral home on Thursday at 9:30 AM, then will proceed to First Christian Church, 1701 Laraway Road, Joliet, for a service at 10 AM. Interment at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Lemont. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
