Brenda Sue Maybury

October 7, 1956 — December 10, 2025

Joliet

Brenda Sue Maybury (née Conrad) of Joliet, age 69, passed away after an extended illness on December 10, 2025 while surrounded by the love of her family members at Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness care in Joliet, IL. Brenda was born the daughter of William Tell Conrad and Mary Margie Conrad (née Markwell) in Calhoun, KY on October 7, 1956.

Brenda was born, raised, and educated in Calhoun, KY and graduated from McLean County High School. She worked for more than forty years of her life caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Her kindness and compassion touched so many people in this life, and she set a great example for her many loved ones of how to find reward in personal sacrifice in service of others. Brenda loved to bake and tend to her garden at home, and she was an expert at finding a great deal when out and about. She thoroughly enjoyed the family vacations, and would often find a small thrift store or antique shop where she would peruse the shelves for any cow related memorabilia to add to her prized collection. If we could ask Brenda what her greatest accomplishment was in life, she would undoubtedly point to her family. The legacy that she leaves behind in the form of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren was all of the reward that she would ever need. Her family will always fondly remember Brenda’s wonderful laugh ringing across a crowded room, and they will forever be grateful to her for never allowing them to experience a day in their lives where they didn’t feel loved. That was the most wonderful characteristic of a wonderful woman, she loved, and she let you know that she loved. She will forever be loved in return.

She was preceded in death by her parents William and Mary Margie, and her brother William Ray Conrad.

Brenda is survived by her devoted husband of thirty-one years Michael Maybury; her children Leslie (Craig) Hieser, William (Kenya) Matlock; stepchildren Michael Maybury, Kathleen Maybury, and Denise Maybury; grandchildren Jacob (Stephanie) Zanelli, Jenna and Cody Hieser, and Jeremy, John, and Leany Matlock; great grandchildren Daniela and Luca Zanelli; siblings Morton, Hugh, and Louis Conrad, Ruth Schindler, Jo Robinson, Mary Crick, and brother-in-law Danny Maybury. She also leaves behind her three faithful companions, Lucky, Angel, and Bo, who will miss her dearly.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations made in Brenda’s honor be directed to either The Will County Humane Society at 24109 W. Seil Road, Shorewood, IL 60404 https://www.willcountyhumane.com/donate/ or to Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care at 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431 https://lightways.org/donate/.
