Carol J. Horvat

Carol is survived by her husband of 58 years, John S. Horvat; sons, Jim (Sue) Horvat and Dan (Mary) Horvat; sister, Pat Makeever; sister-in-law, Geri Heintz; sons-in-law, Dwien Freih and Steve O'Connor; 10 grandchildren, Amy (Jon McCormick) Smith, Renee (Jim) Wuttke, Kristin (Matt) Middleton, Kyle (Miriam Leon) Horvat, Courtney Horvat, Callie Horvat, Zak Horvat, Gina (Charlie) Martin, Kevin and Paul Frieh, and Tony Slobodnik; 12 great-grandchildren, Jakob, Austyn, Jaxon, Blake, Eric, Angel, Logan, Lexi, twins Aubree and Brody, Alexis, and Zac.

Preceded in death by her parents, Leo L. and Kathryn Heintz; brother, Don Heintz; brother-in-law, Robert Makeever; in-laws, John L. and Anne Horvat; daughters, Cathy O'Connor and Joan Frieh; infant grandson, Keith Horvat; infant great-granddaughter, Ellie.

Carol was born and raised in Joliet, IL. She attended Cunningham Grade School and graduated from Joliet Central High School. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She enjoyed sewing, baking and gardening. Carol loved spending her time with family and friends and will be dearly missed.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff at Alden Estates of Shorewood for the wonderful compassion and care provided to mom.

A celebration of Carol's life will begin on Monday, June 15, 2015 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet, IL with a visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service to be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville.
