Carol Jean Konc

November 13, 1951 — March 15, 2026

Essex

Carol Jean Konc (née Wysocki) age 74, passed away at Loyola University Medical Center on March 15, 2026. She was born to her father Walter Wysocki and mother Margaret Wysocki (née Wiegman) in Joliet, IL on November 13, 1951.

Carol was born, raised, and educated in Joliet, IL. She was a graduate of Saint Francis Academy and continued her education at Joliet Junior College. On November 6, 1971, she married the love of her life. Together, Carol and Louie raised a beloved son and three wonderful daughters. Carol was a devoted homemaker throughout her life. After the family moved to Essex, IL, Carol became an active member of the Saint Lawrence Catholic Parish in South Wilmington where she selflessly committed countless hours to varying church services and activities. Carol’s great love was spending time with her family, always doing her very best to cherish every moment she was able to spend with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She always made every moment with her feel like home, whether gathered around the table for her famous spaghetti, celebrating holidays, or simply enjoying quiet evenings of laughter and stories. She was an avid reader, and of course enjoyed creating her little works of art through cross-stitching and crocheting. She leaves a hole too large to fill in her absence. However, her loving family can take some small measure of comfort in the knowledge that while they cannot hold her closely today, they know that she was finally, once again, able to hold her baby boy closely after so many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Margaret; her son Andrew Konc; and her brother James Smith.

Carol is survived by her husband Louis Konc; her three daughters Jerilyn (Doug) Roberts, Kirsten (Brian) Guzman, and Leanne (David) Owens; grandchildren Brianna, Cody, William (Vicki), Kyle, Jordan, and Taylor; great-grandchildren William, Ruby, and Abel; and her sibling Karen Roller. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of loving extended family and friends, including cherished in-laws (who became as close as blood relatives over the years) also survive.
