Carol Lynn Barbic, age 89 of Joliet, IL, passed away peacefully with her family at her bedside on Saturday, August 22, 2026. She was born in Chicago, IL on August 14, 1937 to Louis and Mary Barbic (née Zbacnik) and lived in Joliet for most of her life. Known to family and friends as Lynn, she graduated from St. Joseph Grade School in 1952 and St. Francis Academy in 1956.

Lynn was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Joliet and was a member of the St. Joseph’s Seniors.

She belonged to the Holy Family Society of the USA, where she was also a dedicated employee for over 45 years. Also, she served as Secretary/Treasurer for the Holy Family Society, D.S.D, Lodge #1 for many years.

Outside of work, she was known for her wonderful baking skills. Family and friends enjoyed her cakes and other sweet treats. In addition, she made an outstanding chop suey which everyone enjoyed.

She was a caring daughter, sister, and aunt to many nieces and nephews during her life.

Lynn was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Mary Barbic (née Zbacnik) and her sister-in-law Sharon Barbic (née Ryan).

She is survived by her loving sister Mary Lou (Frank) Golf and her brother Lawrence Barbic. Numerous extended family members also survive.

A special thanks is offered to Lynn’s nephew Tony Golf as well as Jelyn Paradela, a dear friend of the family, who assisted Lynn’s sister in providing the necessary care during the final stages of Lynn’s life. The family would also like to extend a note of gratitude to the staff at Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care in Joliet for their assistance.

A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026 from 8:30 am until 9:30 am at Tezak’s Home to Celebrate Life, 1211 Plainfield Rd. Joliet, IL 60435. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 416 N. Chicago St. Joliet, IL to be celebrated at 10:00 am. Immediately following Mass, we will travel in procession to Saint Joseph Cemetery, 1500 N. Raynor Ave. Joliet, IL for a Chapel Committal Service.
