Carolyn A (Vogt) Bruno, age 84 of Plainfield Township, passed away peacefully on January 20,2026 at her home. Carolyn was born December 5, 1941 in Joliet and was the daughter of Frank and Mildred (Jiran) Vogt and her stepmother Marie (Niesen) Vogt.
She began her career on the grounds at Woodlawn Cemetery with her good friend Joanne Hayes. Carolyn and Joanne decided to venture out and start their own house cleaning business which Carolyn ran for close to 25 years. She loved her shopping excursions, reading good books, and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Charles; and her sisters: Nancy (Dan) Davies and Mary Burch. Carolyn is survived by her sons: Ray Bruno and Ron (Lisa)Bruno; grandson: Kevin (Megan) and great-granddaughter: Hailey Ann Bruno.
She is survived by one brother, Ed Vogt of Crown Point, IN: sister in laws; Janet Fenili, Debbie (George) Griparis, Denny Sue (Butch) Triechel: brother in laws; Don (Teresa) Bruno, Jim (Helen) Bruno, Jack (Jeanne) Bruno, Steve (Kay) Bruno, Dave Burch, and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
Per Carolyn’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded she will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 23060 W Jefferson St. Joliet, IL 60431. A service will be held at the chapel at the cemetery on March 27, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.
The family would like to thank the entire Lightways Hospice team for their dedicated care. In lieu of flowers, all donations should be directed to Lightways Hospice so that they can continue their mission of care and comfort.
