Cheryl Anne “Cheb” Wilson lifelong resident of Joliet, age 73, passed away on March 23, 2026 at Endeavor Edwards Hospital in Naperville, IL. She was born to Harold and Betty Wilson in Joliet, IL on September 20, 1952.
Cheryl was a proud member of the graduating class of 1970 from Joliet East High School. She attended Joliet Junior College in the early 1990’s and ultimately graduated from Lewis University Summa Cum Laude in 2001 with a Master’s Degree. She worked as a licensed Professional Child Therapist and Executive Director/Owner of her practice “Helping Hands”. She authored four booklets regarding Children’s Issues over the course of her career. In her free time, she loved to go out dancing, and leaned heavily into her extremely outgoing personality to make so many dear friends and loved ones in and outside of the Joliet Community. She founded and moderated a number of Facebook groups with the goal of helping others, and those groups grew into great successes boasting thousands of members.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Betty, and her brother Jerry Wilson.
Cheryl is survived by her daughter Heather (Dave) Dropski; her grandson Steven Zabel Jr.; her fiancé Larry Sobol, best friends Cheryl Bever, Kristen Clackum, Justin Clackum, Matt Clackum, and countless social media friends. Many other extended family members, friends, colleagues, and other loved ones also survive.
In lieu of flowers, Cheryl’s wishes were that any memorial donations offered in her name be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at https://www.stjude.org/donate .
In line with Cheryl’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and her Earthly remains will be inurned alongside her mother and father at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 23060 W. Jefferson St. Joliet, IL 60431.
