Cynthia J. Kolodziej (nee Nemger)

Age 65 of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Ascension St. Joseph Hospital with her family by her side.

Born May 21, 1958 in Joliet, Cindy was a daughter of James and Peggy (Bonds) Nemger. She was raised and educated in Joliet and graduated from St. Francis Academy with the class of 1976. 

Cindy was the owner and operator of her own day care center, and even more so, she was the loving caregiver to countless children in the community for over forty years.

Cindy was selfless and carried a heart of gold which she passed on to her children and her grandchildren. She loved decorating for the various holidays, spending time working in her garden and flower beds, crocheting, taking family trips to Lake Geneva and teaching her grandkids how to bake her favorite recipes. Cindy was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

She is survived by her loving husband: Thomas Kolodziej; wonderful children: Kristen (Alan) Wyss, Michael (Amber) Kolodziej, Andrew (Alison) Kolodziej and Alex Kolodziej (Hailey Hole); beloved Gaga to: Brooklyn, Nolan, Quinn, Kendall and Andrew, ll. She is also survived by her dear mother: Peggy; sister: Michele (Nemger) Hill; half-sisters: Leigh-Ann (Nemger) Burzynski and Jaime Lynn Nemger; mother-in-law: Beverly (the late Leo) Kolodziej (nee Doyle); sisters and brothers-in-law: Leah (Nick) Petro, Kevin (Peggy) Kolodziej, Dawn (Derek) Budimier and Jimmy (Leslie) Kolodziej, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Per Cindy’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a memorial visitation on Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until the start of her memorial service which will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made as gifts in Cindy’s name to the family for their distribution.
