Daniel T. Rakowski

December 22, 1965 — January 24, 2022

Daniel T. Rakowski

Age 56 of Hopkinsville, Kentucky and formerly of Lockport, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 24, 2022 at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove with his family by his side.

Dan worked as a Union Carpenter and Foreman for Brunswick Products for over 23 years. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and cherished the times he and his wife would watch the sunset after a day of riding their trike together. Dan absolutely loved playing video games with his grandson and also getting competitive on family game nights. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, camping, boating and being outdoors. He also enjoyed helping anyone with whatever project they needed help on or advice for and didn't bat an eye to stop what he was doing to help. Dan liked to build projects such as watering cans, bag sets and enjoyed working with his hands. His most treasured times were always spent with his family. Dan will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents; loving father: Ronald Rakowski; father-in-law: Gordon “Buck” Porter, Jr., brother-in-law James Putnam, as well as many loved aunts, uncles and cousins.

Dan is survived by his mother: Sue Rakowski; wife and true soul-mate: Kelly Rakowski; his wonderful children: Anthony Bonifay (Becca Kozicki), Kaitlynn Rakowski, and Alex Rakowski (Michaela Uden); his amazing grandson: Gabe Cassello; brother-in-law: Gordon (Kristina) Porter; two sisters-in-law; his sisters: Debbie (Brian) Verdone and Diane Rakowski, and eleven nieces and nephews, two great nephews, as well as his loved extended family.

Per Dan’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

A celebration of Dan’s life will be held at a later date.
