“DeeBee” 

Deborah Alexander, 73, of Joliet , IL was called home on January 16, 2024. Born in Joliet, Il. on August 4th 1950 to Rose (Bates)Buchanan and T. Willie Buchanan officiated by Bishop Luther Buchanan C.O.G.I.C. Deborah grew up under the watchful eye of Mr & Mrs James Harris Sr. when attending Eliza Kelly Elementary and graduated from Joliet Central High School. 

Deborah’s career with Will County, Sunny Hill was admired by all. Being successful was clear and always remained her focus. Her stylish appearance, when employed by Sunny Hill, started early in her teens. Deborah's “Will County Recognition of Services Award”, celebrated her as being the city's highest honored Environmental Services employee totaling 47 years when she retired in October 2019. 

DeeBee was a lover of movies, art, food and crossword puzzles. She enjoyed jazz concerts, theater plays and festivals. Music was a form of personal relaxation during her retirement. Deborah was a person who had expert knowledge in classic movies resulting in her becoming an avid collector. 

Spending time with family, friends and co-workers continued to be an important part of her life. Her affection and playful love when with nieces, nephews created a strong bond where she and only she was known as “Auntie DB” and or “TT DB”. DB always welcomed the kids with big open arms, smothering them in hugs and kisses. DeeBee’s affection could not be resisted. Her presence will always be a lasting memory. She definitely fulfilled her purpose. 

Preceded in death by her husband: Larry Alexander; parents: T. Willie Buchanan and Rose (nee Bates) Harris; two brothers: Willie T. Buchanan and Winfred T. Buchanan; niece: Stacy Harris and nephew: Labron Harris.

Survived by sisters: Norma (Harris) Helis, Vicki Harris, Pat Buchanan and Theresa Staten; brother: James Harris Jr.; nieces: Kneia K H., Cheyenne H., Pakisha R. and Tiffany K.; great-nieces: Anasia G., Ashley M. and Malaya G.; nephews: Kenneth C., Cheron C., Guy W., Joe E., Jeromy H. and Jason M.; great-nephews: Andre G., Keshaun B., Kyle R. and Jamani S.; sisters-in-law: Marilyn Harris, Carolyn Davis and Gwenlyn Alexander in addition to many other relatives and friends.
