Edward “Ed” James Gasmovic, 91, of Simpsonville, SC, husband of the late Genevieve Glavan Gasmovic, died May 17, 2013. Born in Joliet, IL on March 9, 1922, he was the son of the late Peter and Mary Gasmovic. Ed served in the United States Air Force during World War II, earning a Service Stripe, Overseas Service Bars, an American Campaign Medal, an Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with two Bronze Battle Stars, a Philippine Liberation Medal, a Good Conduct medal, and a World War II Victory Medal. In civilian life, he retired from Lehigh Portland Cement Company. He was also a devoted member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. He is survived by his son, David Gasmovic and his wife Patricia; his grandchildren Meghan (Joseph) Ellis, Matthew (Tamara Burke) Gasmovic, and Mikel Gasmovic; as well as his great grandchildren Genevieve and Madeleine Ellis. He was also a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his brother, Raymond “Red” Gasmovic; and his sister, Dorothy Collofello.

Edward had cremation rites accorded in 2013, and his Earthly remains will rejoin his late wife Genevieve at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Joliet, IL in a graveside service with Military Honors. Prior to inurnment, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 416 N. Chicago St. Joliet, IL on Tuesday August 11, 2026 at 10:00 am.
