Edward “Eddie” Allen Nink, age 68, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 17, 2025, surrounded by the warmth and love of his devoted family. Eddie was born on January 6, 1957, to the late Raymond and Cecilia (née Flaherty) Nink.
He was the 14th of their beloved children and grew up in Streator, IL. In recent years, he lived between Shorewood, IL, and Fort Myers, FL, enjoying the best of both worlds. On October 12, 1985, Eddie married the love of his life, Sue Ann. Together, they shared nearly four decades of love, laughter, and adventure. Their greatest joy was their son, Cooper Allen Nink. Eddie was a dedicated and loving father who cherished every moment with Cooper — from cheering him on at every sporting event to tailgating at University of Illinois games, where Cooper graduated. Eddie proudly rooted for his favorite Chicago teams — the Bears, Cubs, Bulls, and Blackhawks — often celebrating their victories at his treasured backyard tiki bar, surrounded by friends and family. The tiki bar is where Eddie would repeatedly remind everyone to “JUST RELAX”. Known for his infectious laugh and larger-than-life personality, Eddie brought joy and fun wherever he went. His presence was magnetic, and those who knew him knew that if Eddie was there, it was going to be a good time. Being from Streator, Eddie would say “You either are a Bulldog or you want to be a Bulldog” .He spent 35 years in mortgage banking, where he built a respected career through hard work and genuine relationships. In retirement, he and Sue Ann cherished their time in Fort Myers, enjoying countless tee times and the wonderful friendships. Eddie's circle of friends was wide and close-knit, and he leaves behind a special place in the hearts of many, including dear friends Matt Holmes, Ray Rub, Ed Schubert, and Dan Muren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Peg Coley, Bob Nink, Jim Nink, and Nancy Phillis.
