Verklan, Edward Age 87, passed away on January 11, 2012. Survived by his beloved, Zita (Plese) Verklan, children Edward (Yvonne), Gregory (Jeanne), Richard, Samuel, and Susan Elaine Verklan; Grandchildren: Livia, Elizabeth, Margaret and Miriam Verklan; Christina (Greg) Doran, Kathryn and Rebecca Verklan; step-grandchildren: Chris (Rich) Cooper and Laurel (Pat) Zelko; Great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Jillian, and Jonathan Doran; Patrick, Heather and Brighid Zelko; Richard, Thomas (dec), Jessie, Alex, Joseph, and Sarah Cooper; in-laws: Lucille Kocjan, Lucas (Geraldine) Plese, Angeline Plese, Eileen Plese, and Clarence Kinzler; also numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by son, Michael J. Verklan, parents Gaspar and Mary (Masic) Verklan, siblings Frances, Nicholas, Samuel, Ann (Robert) Surdey, Joseph (Frances), Mary (George) Blazek, Robert, Margaret, and Jeanette (Vincent) Tartaglia; in-laws John (Katharine) Plese, Frances (Raymond) Butscher, Helen Kinzler, Walter Plese, Sylvia (George) Vulgaris, John Plese and Edward Kocjan. Ed was as a pilot in the US Navy serving our country during WWII from 1942-1946; employed with Ironworker Local 444 for over 60 years. Ed enjoyed crossword puzzles, Western movies, especially John Wayne, Notre Dame/Navy football, big band music, and tinkering around the yard. Private funeral services were held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 from Tezak's Home to Celebrate Life to St. Mary Nativity Church for a Mass of Christian burial; interment to St. Mary Nativity Cemetery.
