Frank "Fritz" Gecan, Jr.

Frank Gecan, age 84 passed away on Thursday December 3, 2020.

Frank is survived by his devoted Daughter and Son-in-law, Diane and Dennis Soave; cherished Grandchildren, Amanda Blank, Troy Blank, Steve (Jessica) Gecan and Cailey Gecan; precious great Grandchildren, Stevie Gecan, Scarlett “Rosie” Gecan and Emma Blank

Sister, Kay (Norm, deceased) Miller and Brother, James (MaryAnn) Gecan; beloved Goddaughter, Cheryl (Phil)Tyrell and Godsons, Robert (Michelle) Palya and Steve (Kristin) Laken; numerous nieces and nephews who he loved so much also survive.

Preceeded in death by his Wife of 61 years, Jacqueline (Jackie) Gecan; Son, Steve Gecan; Mother, Frances Gecan; Father, Frank Gecan; Sisters Mary (Howard, deceased) Palya and Dorothy (Dick, deceased) Remus.

Frank attended Chaney Grade school in Crest Hill and graduated from Lockport Township High School, class of 1954.  He served in the United States Army (1954-1956). He was employed by Ceco Steel, Thomas Steel and retired from Argonne National Laboratory.

Frank was a loving and attentive father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved to fish, watch sports, work in the yard, cook, host smelt fries and visit with his amazing Crest Hill neighbors. He enjoyed 50 years of vacations to Ft. Myers Beach, Florida.

A celebration of Frank’s life will be held in the summer of 2021 when everyone can join together.
