George Porvaznik
November 5, 1920 — January 1, 2018
George Porvaznik, age 97, at rest on Monday, January 1, 2018.
George is survived by his brother-in-law, Charles (Mary Sue) Janes; sister-in-law, Joan Janes; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Mary “Mitzi” (nee Janes) Porvaznik; parents; siblings, Ann, John, Mary and Anthony Porvaznik.
George was born and raised in Joliet, IL. He was a proud United States Army Veteran serving during WWII, European Theater, as a radio operator. He was a past member of the VFW Cantigny Post #367 in Joliet. George was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church in Joliet.
In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
A celebration of George’s life will begin on Friday, January 5, 2018 with a visitation at St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church in Joliet from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Mary Nativity Cemetery in Crest Hill.
There will be no funeral home visitation or service.
