George D. Wozniak, age 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2026 surrounded by his family.
He was born on October 3, 1947, in Joliet, to the late Daniel and Rose (née Juricic) Wozniak. George proudly served his country with honor in the United States Army.
George was a dedicated and hardworking man throughout his life. He was employed at Olin Chemical, J. Merle Jones and Sons, and Oswego School District 308, retiring in May of 2013 after many years of service.
On October 17, 1970, George married the love of his life, Barbara (née Zubcic) Wozniak, with whom he shared over five decades of marriage.
George is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (née Zubcic) Wozniak; his children, Douglas (Marina Giannakas) Wozniak and Jill (Anthony) Parker; and his cherished grandchildren, Gabriella and Kayli Mejia, Mitchell Wozniak, Sydney(Matthew) Figueroa, and Mason Parker. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Oliver and Ezekiel Figueroa.
George will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and his honorable service to his country. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of George’s life will be held with visitation to be held at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL on Sunday, February 1, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Friends and family are asked to meet on Monday, February 2, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. for a mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 201 S Briggs St, Joliet, IL with burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 23060 W Jefferson St, Joliet, IL
