May 12, 1919 — July 11, 2012
Gerald Ward Benedict, age 93, passed away on July 11, 2012. He was a lifelong resident of Crest Hill, and a proud member of the Joliet Lodge No 300 Loyal Order of Moose, Moran A. C., and the Joliet Elks Lodge #296. Gerald was a WWII United States Army Veteran serving in the Pacific Theater.
Preceded in death by his parents Charles and Laura Benedict; Brothers Robert and Kenneth Benedict; Daughter Geraldine (infant).
Survived by his children Roxann (David) Grzetich, Jodine (Robert) Sistek; Grandchildren Deron (Susana) Grzetich, Bryan (Kristen) Murphy, Kevin (Christine) Murphy; Great-grandchildren Gabrielle, Georgaina Grzetich, Kyler, Brea and Hannah Murphy; Sisters Vivian Appleberg and Dorothy Zitnik; Brother William Benedict; Numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation rites were accorded per GeraldA�??s wishes. All relatives and friends are invited to meet at TezakA�??s Home to Celebrate Life on Friday, July 20, 2012 at 11:00 am; then in procession to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery for a committal service at 12:00 p.m.
