Hugh J. "Papa" Ware

Hugh Ware, 89 of Crest Hill, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 1, 2023 with his loving family by his side.

Hugh was born on May 13, 1933 in Wyona, Oklahoma to the late Fred and Mary Alice Ware.

He was a proud Army veteran who served during the Korean War. Hugh worked for Reed Electric for many years. He also was a football fan with no favorite team but took a liking to Oklahoma football. He was a man of many interests, a golfer who played in a league, collecting coins, an avid joke teller who enjoyed watching the rodeo and the game show network.

He is survived by his; children: Tina (Ed) Dzurko, Perry (Lori) Alberico, Sandy (Ron) Reitz, and Tammy Glasgow, Pam (late John) Rapcan, Bev (Kevin) Mahr, and Sandy (Doug) Beguin; Grandchildren: Bill Dzurko, Aimee (Andrew) Giangrosso, Katie (Bob) Camardo, Von (Lauren) Stein, and Jillian Glasgow, Krystina Pavlacka and numerous other Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Hugh is also survived by his: brother; David Harold (Ramona) Ware and a special nephew J.R. Reed.

Hugh was preceded in death by the love of his life, Shirley T. Ware; granddaughter: Kelly Glasgow; parents and sister, Pauline (Charles) Reed.

The family extends special appreciation to Lucy Pineda, who was Hugh’s tireless care-giver, and to Susie Zigrossi, who supported the family in times of need.

A Celebration of Hugh’s life will begin on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, with visitation from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with services beginning shortly after the conclusion of services entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet where Hugh will be laid to rest with his wife Shirley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made as gifts in Hugh’s memory to the Lightways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet,IL.
