Hunter William McDonald “Bob Ross,” born on January 23, 2009, left this world suddenly on April 4, 2024.
Hunter was a bright student attending Minooka Community High School and enthusiastically engaged in various pursuits. He took pride in the honors and AP classes that he was enrolled in. He found joy in intellectual challenges through participation in the Chess Club which he loved dearly and the Underwater Robotics Club. A dedicated athlete, Hunter was actively involved in wrestling, lacrosse, and enjoyed playing hockey with the Jaguar Hockey Club. The Jaguars were a part of his life since he was a baby and they are all considered part of his family. Hunter found solace in the outdoors, particularly enjoying tarpon fishing and hunting adventures with his father. He found great joy in the company of his dogs, showing them immense love and care, especially Bauer and Deke. Hunter began working at Heaps Giant Pumpkin Farm at the age of 14, it was a job that he truly enjoyed. Working on the farm highlighted his work ethic and helped him appreciate the beauty of a sunflower.
In his journey through life, Hunter was fortunate to be surrounded by a loving circle of family and friends. He is survived by his grieving parents, Matt and Kristy McDonald. Hunter also leaves behind his brothers, Matty and Cam McDonald, who will forever cherish the memories they shared. His paternal grandparents, Barb and Bill McDonald, as well as maternal grandparents Dave Reiter, Dee and Annette Driscoll, and great-grandmother Connie A'Hearn mourn his loss deeply. His absence will be felt by his aunts Becky (JP) Rasmussen, Jessie (Jay) Marsett, Keli (Larry) Serven; uncle Will (Tara) McDonald; cousins Hannah, Natalie, Jack Rasmussen, Nate, Vana, Connor Serven; Carly, Brooke, Will McDonald; along with numerous other extended family members and friends.
Hunter was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandparents Don and Jean Fishburn and maternal great-grandparents Fred Reiter, Joanne Reiter, and Ruth Reiter.
During his time among us, Hunter touched the lives of many with his vibrant spirit and genuine kindness. The legacy of his warm heart and joyful presence will endure in the hearts of those who knew him best. May he rest in eternal peace.
