James “Jim” E. Miller, age 82, peacefully passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026.
Jim is survived by his children, Eleanor Lightner, Jim W. Miller, and Jeffrey Miller; grandchildren Christopher (Alexi) Lightner, Ethan Miller, and Ryan (Kaylee) Miller; great-grandchildren, James, Olivia, Frankie, and Leo Lightner, Kaybree and Theo Miller; his brothers and sisters, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Georgene “Jean” Miller, his parents Patricia Larson and Thomas Miller, who was killed in the line of duty in World War II, his stepfather Walter Larson, his brother Walter “Wally” Larson, in-laws Rose and William Krochmal, his grandson Tony (Jennifer) Lightner, and various aunts and uncles, his niece Jody, and several cousins.
Jim was an athletic gentleman that excelled in basketball, track, bowling, and baseball. He also had a very strong love of animals, especially his various dogs he had over his lifetime. He also trained and raced pigeons, raised exotic fish, doves, and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He passed his love of reading to his children, along with his love for animals. He will also be remembered for his quick wit and sarcastic sense of humor.
Per Jim’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded.
