James A. Ebersohl

August 28, 1957 — July 14, 2025

We celebrate the well-lived life of James "Ebs" Ebersohl Sr., 67, beloved husband, father, papa, friend, and man of faith who passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025.

Born to Sharon and George Ebersohl on August 28, 1957, Jim came roaring into the world, ready to embrace and live life to the fullest. As a young man, he could be found playing guitar, fishing, or camping, often creating adventures in the Midwest or spending time up north. At age 19, he proudly welcomed his first son, adding "father" to his list of achievements.

He went on to create a beautiful family with his beloved wife, Sandi, raising three children and building a legacy still in the making.

For over 30 years, Jim worked as chief engineer at the Rialto Square Theatre, Local 399, where he retired.

In retirement, he enjoyed riding his Harley, golfing, or spending time with good friends at his favorite clubs. However, his true passion, as a two-time cancer survivor, was supporting cancer research and helping families in need.

Jim loved being involved with charities, benefits, and community programs, often organizing these events himself with his servant's heart. A loyal member of A.B.A.T.E., Jim served as president and sergeant-at-arms. He was also a proud member of the South Side Civic Club, Northwest Recreation Club, Dale AC, and a club representative with the Illinois Licensed Beverage Association (ILBA).

Jim was a man of many titles, all of them true. He was a light in every room, bringing happiness and laughter to those around him, always ensuring others felt valued. Passionate and proud, he held those dear to his heart in high regard. In every situation, he displayed the compassion, grace, mercy, or strength needed for the moment. Offering guidance and assistance to anyone in need.

Jim is survived by his cherished wife of 40 years, Sandi Ebersohl; his beloved children, James Jr. (Brook) Ebersohl, Shannon (Dan) Young, and Daniel (Sarah) Ebersohl; his five beautiful granddaughters, Evelyn Ebersohl, Serenity Young, Kyla Young, Lilith Young, and Emone Ebersohl; his brother & sister in-law Bob (Bumper) & Lynda Everton, nephews; Jay (Shannan) Everton, Rob (Shelley) Everton, Christopher & Nicholas Ebersohl, a niece Heather Ebersohl / Special friends Mike & Pam West. As well as numerous more whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Ebersohl and Sharon Haake, brothers Gary & Johnathan Ebersohl. Grandparents Alfred & Irene Ebersohl and Aunts Katherine Ruble and Cindy Haake.

In keeping with Jim’s spirit of loving and welcoming everyone as they are, the family invites all who were touched by his life to join us for a casual memorial visitation on Saturday, July 26,2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. at Tezak's Home to Celebrate Life located at 1211 Plainfield Road Joliet Il 60435 .
