Joseph C. Boban Sr., age 95 of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. He was born July 23, 1930 in Joliet, IL, the son of George Boban and Anna Boban (née Farkas).
Joe was a loving and faithful husband to Dorothy Boban (née Denewellis) for over 65 years. In most recent conversations with him, he still professed his love for Dorothy. He was an extremely hard worker and spent most of his career at the US Steel Joliet Plant, until his retirement. He was a dedicated father who often worked while Dorothy had the boys on the road pursuing their baseball dreams. He will be remembered for his humble and quiet disposition, but especially for his "dad" jokes.
Joe is survived by his four sons Joseph Boban Jr. of Joliet, IL, John (Pam) Boban of Bonita Springs, FL, James (Julie) Boban of Valparaiso, IN and Jay Boban of New Lenox, IL; his grandchildren Cole, Lacie, Sarah, Stacy, Matthew, Sean, Jillian and Paige; and numerous great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Anna; his brothers George, Milan, and Donald; his sister Marie; and his granddaughter Denae.
In line with Joseph’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 201 S. Briggs St., Joliet, IL 60433. Joseph’s mortal remains will ultimately be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 23060 W. Jefferson St. Joliet, IL 60431, when he will be inurned with his love Dorothy, and the two will remain together forever. Arrangements have been entrusted to Tezak’s Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd. Joliet, IL 60435.
