Joseph M. Hritz

Joseph “Joe” M. Hritz, 35, passed away unexpectedly on May 13, 2026. Born on July 20, 1990, in Joliet, Illinois, to Robert and Jacqueline Hritz, Joe resided in Bolingbrook and was known for his kind heart, loyalty, humor, and the countless friendships he built throughout his life.

Joe graduated from St. Joseph Grade School and later from Joliet Central High School, Class of 2008. He worked for many years at Codilis & Associates, where he most recently served as an IT Technician. Joe was respected by his coworkers for his dedication, technical knowledge, and willingness to help anyone in need.

A devoted Chicago sports fan, Joe passionately supported the Chicago Bears, Chicago Blackhawks, and Chicago White Sox. He loved online gaming and playing the guitar, spending many enjoyable hours sharing music and connecting with friends. Above all else, Joe will be remembered as an amazing friend to many, someone who was always there with a laugh, a conversation, or support when it was needed most.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Robert Hritz; his brothers, Christopher and Michael Hritz; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and many aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his loving mother, Jacqueline “Jackie” Hritz; his sister, Amanda (Steve) Perion; and his cherished nieces, Olivia and Madison Perion. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Rick Hritz, Jerry (Michelle) Hritz, Joanne Oddo, and Marilyn Hritz, along with numerous cousins and many dear friends who will deeply miss him.

Joe’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to St Sophia’s Forgotten Felines.

A celebration of Joe’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family will receive relatives and friends again on Thursday, May 21, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. then driving in procession to Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet.
