Age 91. Passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 19, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Born March 16, 1924 and a lifelong resident of Joliet.
Preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Frances M. (nee Smigelski) Nurczyk.
He was a son of the late Jacob and Frances (nee Malz) Nurczyk.
Joseph was also preceded in death by his brothers, Frank, Steve, William, Chester “Ben”, John; and his sisters, Josephine (Frank) Swandak, and Helen (Dominic) Mussario.
Joseph is survived by his son, Joseph G. (Vicki Kaminskas) Nurczyk; his daughter, Barbara J. (Jake) Jacobs; brother, Stanley (Olga) Nurczyk; sister-in-law, Geraldine Nurczyk; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Joseph served in the U.S. Marines at Iwo Jima in 1945. He was a Marine Parachutist and a Purple Heart Veteran. Joseph was also a member of the Ironworkers Local #444 and their recording secretary for many years.
A Celebration of Joseph’s life will begin on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 with a visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL 60435. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Joliet.
