Joseph E. Turk ""Peanuts"" Age 84, at rest Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Survived by a son, Joseph E. (Pamela) Turk, Jr. of Goose Lake; grandchildren, Gary (Lori) Turk of Peoria, Brian (Megan) Turk of Morris, and Jill Turk of Goose Lake; great-grandchildren, Haley and Hanna Turk; brothers, Stanley, Martin, and Benjamin (Donna) Turk; a brother-in-law, John Dite; sisters-in-law, Carmella, Angie, and Mary Turk. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, also survive. Preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy M. (nee Dite) Turk; his parents, Frank and Anna (nee Muren) Turk; brothers, Walter (Dorothy), Frank, George and August Turk; and his good friend, Frank Minarich. Joseph was a lifelong resident of Rockdale. He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre, Guam, the Mariana Islands and Iwo Jima. He retired from U.S. Steel Corp. Joseph was a member of the St. Joseph Church Rockdale Holy Name Society, and the Stone City Post 2199. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Turk will be celebrated on Saturday February 11, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. He will lie-in-state on Saturday Morning at the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus where the family will receive relatives and friends from 9:00 a.m. until time of services. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
