Khamphanh Voravong

Khamphanh Voravong, age 79 of Joliet, IL, died on September 17, 2026 at Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, IL. She was born August 1, 1947 in Ban Kengkok, Savannakhet, Laos to her parents Kanh and Phenh Voravong.

Khamphanh attended the National University of Laos in Vientiane, the Lao capital. After graduating, she returned to her hometown to teach the younger generation of her community. She immigrated to the United States in 1979 from Thailand and learned how to create floral bouquets from an old employer. She loved creating flower arrangements and really adored all plants, flowers, and gardens.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Nhem Voravong; her brother Nith Voravong; and three sisters Pa Nun, Pa Nuk, and Pa Phao.

Khamphanh is survived by five daughters; Kinna Raxavong of Joliet, Soutsakone Insixiengmay of Elgin, IL, Vilayphone Krause of Plainfield, IL, Wanakone Voravong of Joliet, and Sophia Voravong of Joliet; two grandsons Alexander Raxavong of Joliet and Brendan Insixiengmay of Elgin, IL; and one granddaughter Tiffanie Raxavong of Joliet, IL.

A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at Tezak's Home to Celebrate Life, 1211 Plainfield Rd. Joliet, IL 60435 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation.
