Lawrence J. McMillin age 77, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2024 at St. Joseph hospital with his daughter and son-in-law by his side.
Born on September 25, 1946 in Joliet. He grew-up in Joliet where he attended St. Pat’s, Catholic High and graduated from Lockport West High School class of ‘64. Proud Army Viet Nam Vet. Resided in Crest Hill and Joliet. He retired after over 30 years from Caterpillar Tractor Company in Joliet as an assembler and an instructor in their apprenticeship program and then worked for Lockport East High School as a vocational tech teacher’s aide. Larry was an avid fisherman and golfer. He also enjoyed traveling and playing games with family and friends.
Survived by his loving daughter Dawn (Michael) Morfoot; his dear grandsons Connor and Evan Morfoot; sister Maureen (John) Howaniec; brothers Michael (Melody) McMillin, Mark (Nancy) McMillin; sister-in-law Pat (late Richard) Gordon; also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years Sharon; beloved son Greg McMillin; parents Jim and Addie McMillin; his in-laws Bob and Mary Ahearn; sister and brother in-law Sherie and Jim Hammer; brother-in-law Richard Gordon; nephews Jimmy Hammer and Patrick McMillin.
The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Friday, June 28, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet.
Chapel services will be held on Saturday, June 29,2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with burial and military honors to follow at Elmhurst Cemetery in Joliet.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his special caregivers Lori, Vicki, Gloria and Robin that lovingly cared for him. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorial contributions can be made in his name to Disabled American Veterans or the Michael J. Fox Parkinson Foundation.
