Lorraine Jeanette Rolnicki

November 20, 1934 — May 4, 2024

With a kind heart and unwavering spirit, our beloved Lorraine Rolnicki (nee Stevens) peacefully embarked on her final journey, embraced by the Lord's loving arms on the morning of Saturday, May 4, 2024.

Lorraine's vibrant life touched countless souls, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. She is deeply mourned by her devoted sons, Andrew (Sandra) Rolnicki and Gregory (Linda) Rolnicki, her cherished grandchildren, Jennifer (Anthony) Hamiti and Christopher (Lauren) Rolnicki, her treasured great-grandchildren, and a vast circle of nieces, nephews, dear friends at Shorewood Horizon in Shorewood, Illinois – her home for the past 12 years. She will also be greatly missed by Cel Dorris, who considered Lorraine a sister beyond the family ties of their children’s marriage.

Preceding her in this eternal journey were her parents, Nicholas Sr. and Elsie Stevens, her daughter, Christina Marie Rolnicki, her siblings, Nick Stevens Jr., Don Stevens, and Betty Briggs, and her beloved Granddog, Bella.

Born on November 20, 1934, in Chicago, Lorraine was a lifelong resident of the Chicagoland area and a devout Catholic, baptized at The Church of the Assumption. In 1954, she embarked on a new chapter, marrying Edward Rolnicki, a union that lasted over a decade.

Lorraine's unwavering dedication as a mother was evident in the way she raised her two sons, Gregory and Andrew, born 11 years apart. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her own children, as she played an integral role in the care and upbringing of her grandchildren, Jennifer and Christopher.

Throughout her life, Lorraine's work ethic and attention to detail shone brightly in various roles she held in the business and accounting departments of renowned Chicago employers such as Illinois Bell, Goldblatts, and Batchelder-Beilin.

At Shorewood Horizon Independent Senior Living, Lorraine's infectious energy and meticulous nature made her the heart of every activity. She approached each task with dedication, never treating anything as a mere chore. Her sparkling surfaces and perfectly brewed cups of coffee were a testament to her attention to detail. Lorraine's spirit will forever live on in the laughter shared during weekly coffee clutches, the delicious aromas of monthly potlucks, and the friendly competitions of Wii Bowling, where her fair scorekeeping was unmatched.

Our celebration of Lorraine's remarkable life will begin with a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Holy Family Parish, 600 Brook Forest Ave, Shorewood, Illinois. Family and friends should plan to arrive at the church separately, as there will be no formal funeral procession preceding the Mass. Immediately after the Mass concludes, attendees are kindly requested to make their own way to Woodlawn Cemetery, 23060 W Jefferson St, Joliet, Illinois, for a committal ceremony. There will be no formal funeral procession from the church to the cemetery location.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Lorraine's memory to either the American Heart Association (https://www.heart.org/) or Anti-Cruelty (https://anticruelty.org/), two causes close to her compassionate heart.
