Lottie "Char" Stefanich

March 30, 1927 — May 9, 2025

Lottie “Char” Stefanich (née Bernadyn), 98 Passed away peacefully on Friday, May 9, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Lottie lived a long, faith-filled life devoted to her family, community, and church. A lifelong member of St. Anne’s Church, she sang in the St. Anne’s Choir for 45 years, sharing her love of music and her faith with the parish community. She was a dedicated member of the Confraternity of Christian Women (CCW), where she was honored as Woman of the Year in 1975. Lottie also took great joy in her involvement with the Young Timers and Will County Seniors, where she formed lasting friendships.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Peter R. Stefanich; her parents, Joseph and Anna (née Banat) Bernadyn; her siblings Joseph Bernadyn, Walter Bernadyn, and Caroline Bernadyn; and in infancy, Stella, Francie, Sophie, and twin baby boys.

Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Mary Ann Mavrin, along with numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and one great-great-nephew, all of whom brought great joy to her life.

Lottie will be remembered for her gentle spirit, strong faith, and deep love for her family and community and her ever present sense of humor.

Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Catholic, 416 N Chicago St, Joliet, IL Wednesday, May 14,2025 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am with funeral mass beginning at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL.
