Louis William Hoidas, Jr.
Age 87 of Plainfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Ascension St. Joseph Hospital.
Born February 14, 1936 in Chicago, Louis was the son of Louis, Sr. and Loretta (Lancman) Hoidas. He retired after a dedicated career as a maintenance engineer in the food industry. In his free time, Lou enjoyed going for rides on his motorcycle, working on his model railroads and railroad scenery, spending time and relaxing at his park model in Seneca, attending and recording his grandson’s baseball and football games and most of all being with his family. Family was everything to Lou, especially his children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years: Roseann (Coglin) Hoidas; children: Mark (Sharon) Hoidas, Kathe (Jim) Hanson, Leeann (Mike) Syslo, Tom McCollum, Jr., Tim (Carol) McCollum, and Bobbi Hoidas; grandchildren: Maria and Nick Hoidas, Kristian, Tyler and Allison Casella, William, Jake (Kayla) and Max McCollum, Michael Selenis, Hannah Martinez, Genevieve (Jessie) Powell, and Maggie Syslo; great-grandchildren: Adelyn and Oliver Selenis, Anastasia and Claire Martinez, Everly Powell and Lainey McCollum, and cousin: Bill Hoidas.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents: Louis, Sr. and Loretta; infant son: Robert Louis Hoidas, and cousin: Rosemary Jakubowski.
Per Louis’ wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
The family will receive relatives and friends for a memorial visitation on Monday, June 12, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. until time of closing prayers beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet.
