Maria L. "Lilia" Burkeen

Maria L." Lilia" Burkeen, age 78, of Joliet, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 13, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Maria will be lovingly remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the deep devotion she had for her family and friends. Her presence brought joy and comfort to all who knew her, and her legacy of love and strength will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Burkeen; her parents, Manuel and Socorro Herrera; her sister, Carmen Corral; and her brothers, Reyes Herrera, Manuel Herrera, Jesus Herrera, and Juventino Herrera.

She is survived by her loving son, Brian Herrera; and her cherished siblings: Consuelo Herrera, Tilde Jaquez, Lety Nanista, Maria Oliva, Lupe Robinson, Frank Herrera, Mike Herrera, Jose Herrera, and Ruben Herrera.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Tezak Funeral Home, located at 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet, IL.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at St Mary Immaculate Church, 15629 Rt. 59, Plainfield IL. Interment will follow at St. Mary Immaculate Cemetery in Plainfield, Illinois.

Maria will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Maria será recordada con amor por su calidez, amabilidad y la profunda devoción que tenía por su familia y amigos. Su presencia brindó alegría y consuelo a todos los que la conocieron, y su legado de amor y fortaleza vivirá en los corazones de quienes tocó.

Le precedieron en la muerte su amado esposo, Jerry Burkeen; sus padres, Manuel y Socorro Herrera; su hermana, Carmen Corral; y sus hermanos, Reyes Herrera, Manuel Herrera, Jesús Herrera y Juventino Herrera.

Le sobreviven su querido hijo, Brian Herrera; y sus amados hermanos: Consuelo Herrera, Tilde Jaquez, Lety Nanista, María Oliva, Lupe Robinson, Frank Herrera, Mike Herrera, José Herrera y Rubén Herrera.

Familiares y amigos están invitados a asistir al velorio el Martes 17 de Junio de 2025, de 4:00 p.m. a 8:00 p.m. en Tezak Funeral Home, ubicado en 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet, IL.

Una Misa Funeral se celebrará a las 10:30 a.m. el Miércoles 18 de Junio de 2025 en la Iglesia St. Mary Immaculate, 15629 Rt. 59, Plainfield, IL. El entierro se llevará a cabo posteriormente en el Cementerio St. Mary Immaculate en Plainfield, Illinois.

Maria será profundamente extrañada y siempre recordada por todos los que la conocieron y amaron
