Maria Teresa Cuevas Bautista, age 77, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026. She will be remembered for her warm heart, vibrant spirit, and the love she shared with her family and everyone around her.

Maria had a deep passion for cooking and took great joy in preparing meals that brought family and friends together. Music was always close to her heart—she loved listening to it and dancing whenever she had the chance. She also had a special appreciation for flowers, finding beauty and happiness in their colors and fragrance. Maria enjoyed caring for animals and had a fondness for pigeons, parakeets, and chickens, which brought her comfort and joy throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jose Reyes; her mother, Angelina Bautista; and her father, Jose Isabel Cuevas.

Maria is survived by her loving children: Maria Reyes, Maria Teresa, Luz Elena, Rosa Elia Reyes, and Juan Reyes. She is also survived by her brothers, sisters, nieces, and numerous extended family members who will cherish her memory and the many moments they shared with her.

Maria’s kindness, strength, and love for her family will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

visitation will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Tezak funeral home, 1211 Plainfield Rd., Joliet, IL funeral mass will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Catholic Church, 205 E. Jackson Street, Joliet IL with burial to follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery, 1500 N. Raynor Ave., Joliet, IL


María Teresa Cuevas Bautista, de 77 años, falleció pacíficamente el 5 de Marzo de 2026. Será recordada por su corazón cálido, su espíritu vibrante y el amor que compartió con su familia y con todos los que la rodeaban.

María tenía una profunda pasión por la cocina y disfrutaba mucho preparar comidas que reunían a familiares y amigos. La música siempre estuvo cerca de su corazón; le encantaba escucharla y bailar cada vez que tenía la oportunidad. También tenía una apreciación especial por las flores, encontrando belleza y felicidad en sus colores y fragancias. María disfrutaba cuidar animales y tenía un cariño especial por las palomas, los periquitos y las gallinas, que le brindaron consuelo y alegría a lo largo de su vida.

Le precedieron en la muerte su amado esposo, José Reyes; su madre, Angelina Bautista; y su padre, José Isabel Cuevas.

A María le sobreviven sus queridos hijos: María Reyes, María Teresa, Luz Elena, Rosa Elia Reyes y Juan Reyes. También le sobreviven sus hermanos, hermanas, sobrinos, sobrinas y numerosos familiares extendidos que atesorarán su memoria y los muchos momentos que compartieron con ella.

La bondad, fortaleza y amor de María por su familia permanecerán en los corazones de todos los que la conocieron. Será profundamente extrañada, pero siempre recordada.

El velorio se llevará a cabo el Jueves 19 de Marzo de 2026, de 3:00 p. m. a 8:00 p. m., en Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd., Joliet, IL. La misa fúnebre se celebrará el Viernes 20 de Marzo de 2026 a las 11:00 a. m. en Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 205 E. Jackson Street, Joliet, IL. El sepelio se realizará posteriormente en Saint Joseph Cemetery, 1500 N. Raynor Ave., Joliet, IL.
