Mario Guzman Carrillo

Mario Guzmán Carrillo, de 76 años de edad, falleció en paz el domingo 5 de julio de 2026, rodeado del amor de su querida familia.

Mario será recordado por su bondad, fortaleza y el amor incondicional que siempre brindó a su familia y amigos. Fue un esposo amoroso y dedicado para su querida esposa, María Luisa Guzmán; un padre ejemplar que siempre guio a sus hijos con amor, trabajo y valores; y el abuelo que todos soñaban tener. Quienes tuvieron la dicha de conocerlo saben que su mayor felicidad era estar rodeado de su familia. Se dice que cada persona tiene una misión en la vida, y quienes lo conocieron coinciden en que la de Mario fue amar y cuidar a los suyos. Si había un papel para el que nació, fue el de abuelo. Su presencia llevó consuelo, alegría y unión a quienes tuvieron el privilegio de compartir la vida con él, y su memoria permanecerá para siempre en el corazón de todas las personas cuyas vidas fueron tocadas por su cariño.

Le sobreviven sus hijos: Alma Delia Ortiz y su esposo, Prisciliano Ortiz; Olivia Gonzales y su esposo, Manuel Gonzales; Froylán Guzmán y su esposa, Lorena Hernández Guzmán; así como su nuera, Elena Cerritos Guzmán, viuda de su querido hijo Mario Guzmán, quien le precedió en la muerte.

También deja un inmenso legado en sus queridos nietos: Mayra Ortiz, Jesús González, Alma Suheidy Ortiz, Dulce Guzmán, Zuleyma Guzmán, Lizbeth Guzmán, Frida Guzmán, Giovanni Gonzales, Froylán Guzmán Jr., Alexander Guzmán, Mario Guzmán Jr., Cristian Guzmán y Prisciliano Ortiz Jr., además de 13 bisnietos que tuvieron la dicha de recibir su amor, sus consejos y su ejemplo. Su familia fue siempre el mayor orgullo de su vida, y en cada uno de ellos perdurarán su amor, sus enseñanzas y el ejemplo de vida que dejó.

La Celebración de la Vida de Mario se llevará a cabo el viernes 10 de julio de 2026. La velación será de 4:00 p.m. a 9:00 p.m. en la Funeraria Tezak, ubicada en 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet, Illinois.

Se les pide a los familiares y amigos que se reúnan directamente en la Iglesia St. Patrick, ubicada en 710 W. Marion Street, Joliet, Illinois, para la Misa de Exequias Cristianas, que se celebrará a las 10:00 a.m. el sábado 11 de julio de 2026. Al concluir la ceremonia, se llevará a cabo el sepelio en el Cementerio Mt. Olivet, ubicado en 1320 E. Cass Street, Joliet, Illinois.

La familia de Mario expresa su más sincero agradecimiento a todas las personas que les han brindado sus oraciones, cariño y apoyo durante estos momentos tan difíciles. Mario Guzmán Carrillo, age 76, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of his beloved family.

Mario will be remembered for his kindness, strength, and the unconditional love he always shared with his family and friends. He was a loving and devoted husband to his beloved wife, María Luisa Guzmán; an exemplary father who guided his children with love, hard work, and strong values; and the grandfather everyone wished they had. Those who had the blessing of knowing him knew that his greatest happiness was being surrounded by his family. It is said that every person has a purpose in life, and those who knew Mario agree that his purpose was to love and care for his family. If there was one role he was born to fulfill, it was that of a grandfather. His presence brought comfort, joy, and unity to all who had the privilege of sharing life with him, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of everyone whose lives were touched by his love.

He is survived by his children: Alma Delia Ortiz and her husband, Prisciliano Ortiz; Olivia Gonzales and her husband, Manuel Gonzales; Froylán Guzmán and his wife, Lorena Hernández Guzmán; as well as his daughter-in-law, Elena Cerritos Guzmán, the widow of his beloved son, Mario Guzmán, who preceded him in death.

He also leaves behind a remarkable legacy through his beloved grandchildren: Mayra Ortiz, Jesús González, Alma Suheidy Ortiz, Dulce Guzmán, Zuleyma Guzmán, Lizbeth Guzmán, Frida Guzmán, Giovanni Gonzales, Froylán Guzmán Jr., Alexander Guzmán, Mario Guzmán Jr., Cristian Guzmán, and Prisciliano Ortiz Jr., along with 13 great-grandchildren who were blessed to receive his love, guidance, and example. His family was always the greatest pride of his life, and through each of them, his love, wisdom, and the example he set will live on.

A Celebration of Mario's Life will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026. Visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, located at 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet, Illinois.

Family and friends are asked to gather directly at St. Patrick Church, located at 710 W. Marion Street, Joliet, Illinois, for the Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026. Following the Mass, interment will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, located at 1320 E. Cass Street, Joliet, Illinois.

Mario's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered their prayers, love, and support during this difficult time. Although his passing leaves a profound void, they find comfort in the love he shared throughout his life and in the certainty that his memory will live on forever in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His love and legacy will endure for generations to come.
