Mary Ann Decman

Mary Ann Decman (née Swandak) a lifelong Joliet resident at age 94, at rest Thursday, April 16, 2026 in the comfort of her own home while surrounded by her loving family. She was born to her father Frank Swandak and mother Josephine Swandak (née Nurczyk) on June 23, 1931 in Joliet, IL.

Mary Ann was a proud member of the graduating class of 1949 from Saint Francis Academy. She spent the bulk of her career as a payroll clerk for AT&T until her retirement, where she earned great respect for her hardworking nature. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, like her husband before her and her children continue to be today. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She was always there for her children every step of the way. Her loving and caring personality will always be missed by her remaining family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Josephine; her husband Edward Decman; her daughter Dana “Nancy” Dechman; her sister Lorraine (the late Ralph) Papesh, as well as numerous extended family members.

Mary Ann is survived by her loving children Pamela (Jim) Dapkus, Mark (June) Decman, and Robert Decman; as well as her loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and extended family members.

Per Mary Ann’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and a private committal service was performed for her immediate family. Her Earthly remains are inurned with her husband Edward at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Joliet, IL.
