Mary J. Braun

Mary Joann Braun, age 85, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026. She was born on August 19, 1941.

Mary was a long time, devoted member of the Joliet community. She served as the choir director at St. Jude Catholic Church for several years, sharing her love of music and faith with many throughout the church community. She was also a member of the Joliet Franciscan Associate.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, John Hans Braun and Loretta Braun; and her daughter-in-law, Teresa Alvarado Piskur.

She is survived by her son, Gregory Thomas Piskur Sr.; her grandchildren, Gregory Thomas Piskur Jr., Anna Marie Piskur, and Tyler Joseph Piskur; as well as many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory.

Mary had a special love for animals, especially cats, and her compassionate nature extended to all creatures.

Her family and friends will remember her for her faith, her love of music, her kindness, and the lasting impact she made on those around her.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The family invites relatives and friends to join them on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Queen of Apostles Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville.
