Mary Ann Russ

Mary Ann Russ, age 74, passed away on February 23, 2026 at her home. She was born on March 2, 1951 in Joliet, IL and was a life-long resident of Joliet.

Mary Ann was a graduate of St. Joseph Grade School (1965), St. Francis Academy (1969) and College of St. Francis (1973). She was an elementary school teacher (2nd and 3rd grades) for 35 years in the Joliet Public School District #86 and Pershing Elementary School in Joliet. She retired in 2011.

Survived by her sister, Lois Russ; niece, Jennifer (Adam) McCue; several aunts and numerous cousins.

Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Isabelle (Koncar) Russ; her brother, Joe; grandparents, Frank and Frances Koncar, Joseph and Pauline Russ; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Mary Ann was always so grateful for her many dear friends and the wonderful neighbors who meant so much to her. Their friendship, kindness, and steady presence enriched her daily life in countless ways. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Joliet, IL in memory of Mary Ann Russ.

A celebration of Mary Ann’s life will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026 with a memorial visitation to be held at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. A service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be held privately at St. Joseph Cemetery in Joliet. Per Mary Ann’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded.
