Mary Dolores (Kaner) Sweeney-Lane

Mary Dolores (nee Kaner) Sweeney-Lane, age 88, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center with her loving family by her side.

Mary is survived by her children, Richard (Pat) Sweeney, John (Veronica) Sweeney, Guy (Susan) Sweeney, Dolores (Richard) Gesorski and Debra Pratl; grandchildren, Kevin, Kenneth, Jeffrey, Rick, Godson-David, Conor, Anna and Sean; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Don Kaner; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lane; parents, Guy and Anna Kaner; and brother, Kenneth Kaner CPD.

Mary was the best-of-the-best mothers. She was someone you could always count on to be there for you.  Mary was a kind and loving person, who always put others before herself. She was a hard worker and extremely dependable. Mary loved her family and pets dearly. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, attending church and gardening. Mary hosted many family parties and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s name may be made to EWTN or the Veterans Home in Manteno.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the caring staff at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center, especially Martha CNA.

A Celebration of Mary’s life will begin on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 8:45 a.m., then processing to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (15050 Wolf Rd. - Orland Park, IL 60467) for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be on Monday, April 16, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home (1211 Plainfield Road - Joliet, IL). Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip, IL.
