Mary Louise Bozich (DeSignor), age 79 passed away peacefully September 12th, 2021, at home surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born November 5th, 1941, in Joliet, Illinois to Frank and Mary DeSignor. She married Richard Bozich Sr. in 1962. They then moved to Channahon, Il where they raised their two children.
Mary Lou was a graduate of Saint Francis Academy. She enjoyed participating in Agility competitions with her Border Collies. She loved horses and enjoyed horseback riding when she was younger. She enjoyed many trips to visit family and friends and treasured all the memories she made with them. Throughout her life she welcomed adventure and appreciated all the world had to offer. Never did she meet a stranger. She enjoyed spending holidays and special events with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She retired as an Optician for Dr. Karl and Mark Fritz. Her love for dogs was such a large part of who she was, she rescued numerous pups over the years and was a dog groomer for many years making lifelong friends along the way.
She was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in January 2020. She never once gave up hope and displayed endless courage and strength throughout her battle. Mary Lou lived every day to its fullest, taking any opportunity to go on an ADVENTURE, was always her mission. She fought until she couldn’t fight any more. She will be greatly missed by all lives that she touched.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband: Richard Lawrence Bozich Sr.; parents: Frank B DeSignor and Mary C (Jagodnik) DeSignor, and her Great Granddaughter: Autumn Lynn Bormet.
She is survived by her dear sister: Francine Inbinder; her loving daughter: Rebecca Lynn Conner (Jesse Algarin) and her loving son: Richard (Vicki)Bozich Jr.; her cherished grandchildren: Kala (Andrew) Bormet Sr., Rosie Conner, Richard Bozich III, Anthony Bozich (Brianna Wilmoth); great-grandchildren: Aubrey Bormet, Andrew Bormet Jr., Alexander Bormet, Austin Bormet, Ava Bormet, Aly Bormet, and Madelyn Bozich; her 2 faithful canine companions: Zen and Frankie. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and her dear friend: Kathy Hoffman who was with her along her journey, and gentleman friend: Amos Kiester.
Family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet. A celebration of Mary Lou’s life will continue on Friday, September 17, 2021 with a visitation from 9:00 a.m. until time of closing prayers beginning at 10:00 a.m. The funeral will then drive in procession to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow and Mary Lou will be laid to rest next to her husband, Richard at St. Mary Nativity Catholic Cemetery in Crest Hill.
