Michael E. Pennington

Michael E. Pennington, age 68, of Aurora, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2026.

Michael was a 1977 graduate of Joliet Central High School. He had a lifelong passion for HO model trains and was well known among fellow enthusiasts for his dedication to the hobby. In the 1980s, he proudly served his community as a volunteer member of the Plainfield Emergency Management Association (PEMA). Michael also had a special love for Sheltie dogs, which brought him great joy throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth “Doc” Pennington and Lorraine Pennington (née Boner).

Michael is survived by his brothers, Jerry (Kelley) Pennington and James (Kim) Pennington. He will be fondly remembered by his nephews, Patrick Pennington, Adam Pennington, and Aurie (Jackie) Pennington; his niece, Trista (Kyle) Countryman; and five great-nieces and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Michael’s name may be made to the Plainfield Historical Society.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Road, Elwood, Illinois. Cremation rites have been accorded in accordance with his wishes.
