Michael Allan Thompson, 66, of the Joliet/Lockport area, passed away on April 20, 2026, at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital. He was born on July 13, 1959, in Joliet, Illinois.
Michael was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Lockport High School. He built a long and dedicated career as a Union Plumber with Local# 130, where he was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and pride in his craft before retiring.
Michael was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He shared 45 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Deborah Thompson (née Berg), building a life rooted in love, loyalty, and family.
Michael enjoyed bowling in his younger years and later developed a love for golfing, often spending time on the course with his son and close friends. He valued friendship deeply and shared many lasting memories with his lifelong friends, Dino Bentley and Bob Metesh.
He will be especially remembered for his personality—he was often the loudest in the room, bringing energy, humor, and a presence that was impossible to ignore. That spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his mother Phyllis Thompson, his wife of 45 years Deborah Thompson (née Berg); his loving children Jennifer (Glen) Lynch and Christopher (Brooke) Thompson; and he was a proud grandfather to Skylar Lynch, Blake Lynch, and Brody Lynch, who brought him immense joy.
He was preceded in death by his father Dean A. Thompson; and his grandparents Edward J. Goran and Cecilia Y. Goran (née Sieracki), and Walter E. Thompson and Elsie E. Thompson (née Phillips).
Michael will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his dedication to his family, and the lasting impact he made on those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unforgettable memories.
