Nancy Marie Valenti Costello

Age 86 of Plainfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Harbor Chase of Plainfield with her family by her side.

Born July 21, 1933 in Yonkers, New York, Nancy Marie was a daughter of Domenico and Nancy (Amodio) Valenti. Migrated to Chicago in 1956.  As a long time resident of Chicago, Nancy retired from the Board of Education after thirty-three years of service.  Nancy retired in Joliet and volunteered for many years as a religious instructor at St. Mary’s Parish in Plainfield.

She is survived by her five daughters: Linda (Robert) Reschke, Susan (Tim) Bernovich, Nancy (Tony) O’Neil, Donalee Prince (Anthony Soverino) and Patricia (David) Costello Scumaci; Nine grandchildren: Robert (Annette) Reschke, Tammy (Gregory) Layson, Donald (Kathleen) Bernovich, Nathan O’Neil, Dustin Prince, Brittany (Dan) Parsons, Ryan and Amanda (Brett Sarnecke) Scumaci, and Rachel (Derrik) Bernasek; and eight great-grandchildren: Claire and Addison Reschke, Kaia and Brody Layson, Carter and Trevor Bernovich, and Camron and McKenna Parsons, her siblings; Carmine (the late Louise) Valenti, Josephine (Nicholas) LaSorsa and Benjamin (the late Rachel) Valenti, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald H. Costello; sisters: Therese (the late William) Craft and Lilian Denise.

Per Nancy’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

Memorial services and interment will be private.

Nancy will be laid to rest at Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery in Orland Park.
